How to mark an order exempt from Royalties
While Royalties must be reported for all schools requiring them, certain orders may be exempt from paying royalties.
Customers with licensed art are setup in FDM4 to allow the user to choose between different royalty options when creating art. Every customer's licensing/royalty agreements are different, so it it important to be knowledgable at the customer level or work with the Game One Royalties team to determine the correct setup. For example: sometimes a customer may charge royalties for external usage of their licensed art (bookstore orders, reseller orders) but they may exempt orders when the art is used internally (team uniforms, staff & travel gear)
When entering a quote/order, you may notice a Royalties charge on the Services Tab. If the order you are entering is exempt from paying royalties, follow these steps:
- Click the Hamburger (next to Check Stock)
- Select Manage Royalty Exemptions
- Click Add
- Ensure the "Exempt from Royalties" box is checked and Save
- Close the window and the services screen should now reflect a zero Royalty Charge
Below is a video recording of this process outlined above.
