Can I add additional quantities to an order after it has already been placed?

This article will help you determine if an order can be edited to add additional quantities.

There are occasions when an order is placed and the customer decides to add additional quantities.

Use the processes below to solve for:

Decorated Orders (Tier 1)

  • If the status is "Waiting on Production" status, then no changes can be made, including adding/removing quantity, changing the product, canceling the order or changing the art.
  • If the order status is "On Backorder" and we are waiting for product to be received from a PO or we are waiting on art holds, then we can add to the order. The CRR will follow this process:
    • Edit the order to add additional quantities (quantities cannot be lowered)
    • Add a comment so the buyer knows what changes are made
    • Review & Complete the order
    • The order will hit ABOM where the buyer will create a second PO and order the additional product on its own PO

If the product is coming in on a PO and it has already been purchased, you can never lower the quantity of items on that PO. The only solution is to credit the customer back after invoicing.

Decorated Orders (Tier 3 and Carroll)

Before making any changes to a Tier 3/Carroll order, the CRR should reach out to the Tier 3 or Carroll to find out the status of an order. If the order is NOT yet produced, the CRR will follow this process:
    • Edit the order to add additional quantities (quantities cannot be lowered)
    • Add a comment so the buyer knows what changes are made
    • Review & Complete the order
    • The order will hit ABOM where the buyer will create a second PO and order the additional product on its own PO

If the order is in production, it cannot be edited. A new order would have to be keyed in and the rep is costed separately for the two orders.

If the product is coming in on a PO and it has already been purchased, you can never lower the quantity of items on that PO. The only solution is to credit the customer back after invoicing.

Non-Decorated Orders

For GO warehouse orders, if the order is not in a "In D/C" status, then the order can be edited and the quantities can be adjusted up or down. If the order has already been picked and shipped, just key in a new order

For dropship orders, if the PO has not been issued, the order can be edited. If a PO is attached, a second order will need to be entered for the additional product
